Black Books is unrepentant in how misanthropic its leads can be. Set in a charming London bookstore, the owner of which is a raging alcoholic who simply wants to be left alone to drink and read his books. If only his customers and two best friends would leave him alone. The comedy can be a bit broad to begin with, but as you watch the three seasons, the characters’ outrageousness only becomes more amusing and endearing. It also co-stars Episodes’ Tamsin Greig.
Watch this show. Seriously.
I cannot recommend this enough.
